The issue of the Volga Bulgarians has been too long ignored, intentionally or not, which has deprived it of the place it deserves in Bulgarian historiography. Only some ten years ago, the public in Bulgaria found out about the existence of Bulgarians in the distant Volga-Ural region, who were presented as historical kin dating back to a far-off epoch.
Let us hope that Nikolay Pavlov's book will further promote interest in the Volga Bulgarians particularly among the young researchers, who, in studying this subject, will find real satisfaction in their scientific quest.
